Unfortunately, the promised report on open hotspots will not be forthcoming, due to technical ineptitude difficulties...

I did notice that the seemingly wide open downtown Holiday Inn hotspot required a code on the splash/login page that could only be obtained from the hotel. Good for them on limiting bandwidth-vampires (Bandpires?), but bad for anyone using the wide-open connection, as I could have packet-sniffed all KINDS of interesting info...
